Position Overview /DutiesThe Louisville District is recruiting for a Civil Engineer, GS Series 0810 to serve as a Structural Engineer within either the Structural Section or Navigation Design Section, Civil Branch, in the Engineering Division located at the Louisville District Office, Louisville, KY.
Description Of Assignment/Duties- Serves as the technical expert providing structural engineering expertise and guidance on complex structural design projects.
- Responsible for quality control and quality assurance of structural engineering features of various planning, design, and construction documents.
- Confers with engineers in other organizational units to resolve conflicts in design and construction and recommends solutions.
- Reviews structural engineering features of design and construction documents.
- Mentors and coaches lower-graded structural engineers.
- Reviews and interprets policy and regulations, maintains awareness of current advances in structural design and implements these in District projects.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
- This position requires a Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- This position may require TDY up to 15% of the time.

Experience:
One year of specialized experience at the (GS-12) next lower grade/level which includes serving as lead structural designer of complex engineering designs; coordinating and designing structural features of construction projects; leading structural design efforts and providing construction support for technical challenges on complex construction projects such as identifying technical policies, administrative procedures and basic guides for structural engineering studies and design;
coordinating and incorporating structural design requirements between infrastructure stakeholders, internal operators, and external stakeholders.
