Senior Substation Engineer

Location:

Louisville or Lexington - Onsite / Hybrid (Tuesday-Thursday in office)

We are seeking a versatile Substation Engineer to support multiple utility projects from early scoping through turnover to execution. This role requires broad substation knowledge, comfort performing onsite walkdowns, and the ability to support both P&C and physical substation design tasks.

• Translate high‑level need statements into detailed scopes of work.
• Support P&C and physical substation layout, configurations, and general engineering tasks.
• Conduct onsite walkdowns to confirm field conditions.
• Review one‑line diagrams, redlines, and design packages.
• Develop engineering and material estimates.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction, and various engineering teams.
• Act as the communication hub to keep disciplines aligned.
• Assist with scheduling and project turnover to execution teams.
• Prepare clear, proactive written documentation.

• Hands‑on substation experience; must be comfortable identifying equipment in a substation.
• Ability to read and interpret one‑lines and substation drawings.
• Strong problem‑solver; fast learner with solid professional presence.
• Proactive communicator who asks questions early.
• Familiarity with Micro Station, reading redlines, and Adobe tools.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Open to candidates with a 2‑year technical degree plus significant physical substation experience.
• Preference for more experienced candidates, but strong developing engineers will be considered.
