Position: Supervisory Interdisciplinary GS-0808/0810/0819/0890/0850-14 (42227)

Overview

The Louisville District is recruiting for a Supervisory Interdisciplinary (Engineer/Architect), GS 0808, 0810, 0819, 0830 or 0850 to serve as the Deputy Chief within the Engineering Division located at the Louisville District Office, Louisville, KY.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as the technical authority in the engineering and scientific disciplines, which support the Engineering Division function.
  • Assures engineering programs incorporate the most advanced methods and technology, and the technical program is structured, staffed, and managed to be responsive to project requirements.
  • Establishes the technical framework and guidance for accomplishing objectives within the Divisions in-house and contractual capability. Manages A-E contracts as needed to supplement the in-house engineering workforce.
  • Uses managerial authority to support the Chief of Engineering Division (functional chief) and the Project Managers in their roles and responsibilities described in Engineer Regulation (ER) 5-1-11, USACE Business Process.
  • Determines the best approach or solution for adjusting expenditures due to income shortfalls and plans for long range staffing needs, including the need to contract out, based on projected workload.
  • Develops long-range organizational plans; through subordinate organizational chiefs, assigns work to subordinates and determines work schedules and priorities.
  • Reviews and approves the full range of personnel actions recommended by subordinate supervisors to include selections, performance standards, awards, disciplinary, position management, and equal employment opportunity (EEO) goals and local policies.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Minimum Requirements

Professional Registration as a Professional Engineer and/or Professional Architect is required for position.
