Overview
We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a leading company located in the Louisville, KY surrounding area.
The Senior Geotechnical Engineer provides technical leadership on a wide range of geotechnical projects, guiding work from initial planning and design through construction and closeout. This role leads the execution of both routine and complex assignments, oversees engineering analysis and quality control, mentors staff, and serves as an Authorized Project Reviewer. The position also supports business development efforts, promotes a strong safety culture, and drives continuous improvement in technical quality and project delivery.
ResponsibilitiesProvide senior-level technical guidance to ensure the successful delivery of routine and complex geotechnical projects.
Develop investigation programs, conceptual designs, and engineering approaches for major project components or serve as engineer-of-record for moderately scoped projects.
Plan, schedule, and manage engineering tasks, addressing technical challenges such as conflicting design requirements and complex subsurface conditions.
Perform and oversee technical reviews, including projects involving advanced or non-standard investigation and analysis methods.
Supervise geotechnical analyses and contribute to, review, and approve technical reports prepared for clients.
Lead technical training and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, supporting professional growth and knowledge sharing.
Serve as an Authorized Project Reviewer in accordance with company standards and policies.
Support marketing, client development, and business development initiatives, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
Identify and manage project risks, ensuring compliance with company risk management policies.
Promote and lead safety initiatives, ensuring adherence to all safety rules, procedures, and guidelines.
Champion continuous quality improvement by monitoring project performance and enforcing quality standards throughout project execution.
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering; master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus preferred.
Minimum 8 years of experience in responsible charge following PE licensure within a geotechnical consulting environment.
Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Kentucky, or ability to obtain within six months.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
