We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Louisville, KY. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on design work, collaboration with manufacturing and field teams, and travel to customer sites. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn directly from an industry expert, gaining deep exposure to the design, application, and troubleshooting equipment used across a variety of heavy industrial markets.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for industrial equipment for a variety of industries
- Create detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and bills of material using CAD software
- Support equipment installation, inspection, alignment, and commissioning activities at customer sites
- Collaborate with senior engineers, field service, manufacturing, and project management teams to deliver customer solutions
- Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, tolerance analysis, and material selection
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for existing equipment
- Interface directly with customers to understand application requirements and provide technical solutions
- Travel 30–40% to customer sites for inspections, measurements, startups, and technical support
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 2+ years of mechanical design experience in industrial or heavy equipment environments (rotating equipment experience a plus)
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Solid Works, Inventor, or similar)
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally (30–40%)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functional
- Curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to grow technical expertise in a specialized industry
- Hands-on exposure to large-scale, custom-engineered industrial equipment
