As an Aircraft Structures Engineer for UPS Airlines, you will develop engineering solutions that support safety, reliability, and airworthiness policies and procedures. You will develop cost-effective standards and recommendations that meet aircraft specifications through coordination with component and aircraft manufacturers. You will have the opportunity to use your engineering skills and judgment to develop aircraft and component repairs/modifications, and to work with manufacturers to improve overall aircraft reliability as a project manager.
Responsibilities- Aircraft Modifications and Maintenance:
Implement fleet projects and design repair schemes for structural applications. Utilize analytical skills and structural aptitude while working with the maintenance team and vendors. - Manage, track, and implement certification approvals from beginning to end, including obtaining proper funding to accomplish assigned projects.
- Develop solutions to reduce cost, including alternate repairs, material approvals, and technological improvements.
- Review FAA and International Regulations for applicability to UPS; act as project manager for applicable regulations, obtain funding, and create technical work instructions to meet timelines and maintain airworthiness compliance.
- Reliability project development and implementation; review and analyze aircraft data to identify areas for reliability improvements via modifications or procedural changes.
- Bachelor’s Degree – Mechanical, Aerospace, or other equivalent engineering degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years of technical experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of FAA regulations and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and interpret technical data in support of airline maintenance.
- Ability to work different shifts, including nights and weekends when required.
- Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally.
- Proficiency in technical analysis and working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations or certification requirements.
- Prior Airline or Maintenance Repair Overhaul Facility experience.
- Experience with Cargo Handling Systems, Damage Tolerance, airframe modifications.
