Area Power Market Lead

Overview

HDR is looking for a Power Market Sector Leader to provide oversight and direction for the growth of HDR’s Power program in Kentucky and Tennessee. HDR is recognized by Engineering News-Record in the Top 20 for Power. With over 1,000 professionals in the Power Market Sector, HDR leads siting and routing, environmental due diligence, transmission and distribution design, power generation, and hydropower.

HDR has growing offices in Lexington, Louisville, Nashville, Chattanooga, Paducah, Memphis, and Elizabethtown and supports the state’s design demands for utilities, data centers, and renewable energy.

The Power Market Sector Leader will bring power generation, power delivery, or comparable technical experience to the area, with a seller/doer mindset to grow these services with power utilities, cooperatives, energy developers, industrial and technology companies.

• Grow, monitor, and participate in the execution of HDR’s portfolio of Power services in Kentucky and Tennessee. Partner with local and regional business development leaders to position ahead of market trends and implement strategies to diversify work and grow client relationships.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to deliver services including design, consulting, advisory services, owners engineering, asset management, due diligence, and planning. Clients may include power utilities, cooperatives, energy developers, industrial and technology companies.
• Establish external teaming relationships to support program growth and represent HDR in industry associations and community organizations.
• Provide leadership and project management to ensure projects have appropriate staff and are executed with quality. Serve as a Principal-in-Charge or Project Manager as needed.
• Coordinate with Area Business Group Manager, Power Market Leaders, and Power Business Development Leaders to align resources and technical expertise with workload and marketing efforts.
• Drive client growth locally and regionally, including recruiting and hiring staff to support business development and marketing plans.
• Coordinate with local operations, section managers, and business group leadership to support work sharing efforts.
• Lead and motivate staff to meet growth goals.

• PE license, or industry equivalent
• PMP Certification
• Ability to travel for client and project meetings (up to 25%), including meetings with staff in area offices and regional leadership

• Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning or related field
• A minimum of 10 years of industry experience
• Experience in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services
• Experience in development and management of client relationships and program/project pursuits
• Experience in staff development, recruiting, and professional growth
• Active involvement with industry associations and a visible market sector profile
• Ability to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors and Area Managers
• Demonstrated commitment to HDR values and active participation in an employee-owned culture
