Senior Project Engineer
The Senior Project Engineer manages construction and automation projects of varying complexities and risk, such as conveyance and robotic installations and facility modifications. The role involves initial design, execution, and testing while ensuring adherence to contract documentation, scheduled timelines, and cost control parameters. The position may also develop project documentation, including project scope of work, estimates, and other related documents.
Additional Information- Location: Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate. (Not remote)
- Job Level: Supervisor
- Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Complete the bid package process (bid creation, evaluation, background check, award, etc.) to select the most competitive bid and competent vendor for contracts (construction, design, conveyor, automation, etc.).
- Request and evaluate bids and proposals according to competitive bid criteria, background checks, and vendor competence to recommend award of contracts.
- Develop project schedules to ensure adherence to deadlines.
- Work with technology teams to identify areas for process improvement and design solutions to achieve optimal efficiency.
- Work with automation contractors/integrators to implement solutions of varying complexity.
- Evaluate budget performance, analyze sources of surplus, and negotiate with vendors to prevent future changes to project scope.
- Maintain cost log and project management checklist, process invoices, and release funds to contractors to facilitate and document project completion.
- Conduct project inspections of materials and installations to ensure performance meets UPS standards, repairs are completed within scheduled deadlines, and quality materials are utilized.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field – Preferred.
- Experience in automation solutions involving WMS and WCS/WES integration – Preferred.
- Logistics or supply chain knowledge – Preferred.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in automation – Preferred.
- Experience designing solutions for process improvement – Preferred.
