Position Overview
An automation and systems integration firm is seeking a Controls Engineer to support the development and maintenance of industrial control solutions. The successful candidate will have strong experience working with PLC ladder logic—particularly on Rockwell platforms—and a background in industrial environments such as automotive manufacturing, material handling, or similar automated systems.
This role requires someone who can build, adjust, and troubleshoot control logic while supporting system performance in the field.
Key Duties- Create and implement control system designs based on project and customer requirements
- Produce and maintain electrical schematics and documentation
- Develop and modify PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, and vision system programs
- Select and specify electrical components and automation hardware using engineering calculations and client standards
- Diagnose and resolve software and hardware issues efficiently
- Design, test, and troubleshoot data collection and supervisory control systems
- Support system startup, commissioning, testing, and calibration across industrial applications such as manufacturing, automotive, or water-related facilities
- Adhere to internal design procedures while contributing to standardized control solutions
- Degree or certification in a controls-related discipline, or equivalent professional experience (typically five or more years) supporting industrial automation systems
- Strong working knowledge of PLC platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, or GE/Emerson
- Experience with HMI and SCADA software including Factory Talk, Ignition, or Cimplicity
- Ability to interpret, update, and develop PLC logic, operator interfaces, and drive configurations
- Familiarity with conveyor and material handling systems such as pallet, skid, EMS, friction drive, or power-and-free systems
- Comfortable working flexible hours, including off-shift or overtime when necessary
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational abilities
- Self-directed, detail-focused, and proactive in managing tasks
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
