Position: Senior Controls Engineer
Location: Lexington, KY
Job Type: On-site
Reports to: Mechanical Supervisor
Department: North American Operations
Position
Purpose:
Senior Controls Engineers at Leadec ES, Inc. are part of the Controls and Automation division. This division is responsible for the complete design and integration of control systems into customer processes. This includes electrical panel design, hardware specifications, power distribution, PLC and HMI programming as well as system commissioning and production support. This position provides the opportunity to learn new skills and to work in a challenging and fast paced environment.
Controls engineers are involved in many different projects at Leadec ES, Inc. including, but not limited to:
- Automotive conveyor systems
- Paint Shop and Body Shop application robot integration
- Mining and Steel Processes
- Roofing Product lines
- Food and Beverage
Leadec ES, Inc. expects Senior Controls Engineers to be resourceful, proactive and highly motivated workers with excellent communication skills. They are expected to be organized and efficient while working independently on projects of any scope of any size while managing the controls portion of projects and supervising junior engineers. This includes using their own discretion to make independent judgments and choices with respect to project specific matters such as ordering materials and interfacing with customers.
The applicant must be capable of using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to evaluate possible courses of action and make independent decisions on behalf of management.

- Knowledge of safety standards and legal requirements, ensuring all systems meet compliance.
- S. degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar) from a recognized and accredited institution.
- 5+ years' experience with industrial control systems.
- 10+ years' experience in industrial controls will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and complete a background check after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
- Experience with PLC / HMI.
- Experience with AutoCAD or EPLAN.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products -- Word, Excel, Project, Visio, etc.
- Experience with multiple control platforms:
- Toyopuc (required)
- Control Logix
- Siemens S7
- Omron NJ series controllers
- HMI Programming
Experience:- Wonderware
- WinCC, WinCC Flexible
- Factory Talk View
- Interface with the Electrical Division to ensure successful flow of information from Controls group to electrical group.
- Strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection, and communications systems.
- Mix of office environment and location at various job sites.
- Travel to job sites as required.
