Senior Mechanical HVAC Designer role s job opportunity is available at ANY location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S. based office, but we intend to hire the best candidates.

We’re looking for an experienced, high‑energy HVAC Designer to join our Building Mechanical team and help deliver innovative HVAC design solutions for our heavy industrial clients. You will work alongside engineers and designers performing field investigations, interfacing with clients & vendors, sizing and selecting equipment, and preparing construction design packages. You’ll be accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule.

Highlights

Your role helps our multi‑disciplinary team meet client needs. Highlights of your contributions will include:

  • Layout and design of HVAC systems
  • Development of conceptual and preliminary design documents, including calculations for sizing and selecting systems, Air Flow Diagrams (AFDs), Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and general arrangements
  • Development of final construction documents for HVAC systems (e.g., chilled water, cooling water)
  • Coordination with other disciplines
Responsibilities
  • Lead or contribute to classroom- and field-based HVAC design work for heavy industrial facilities
  • Prepare and review design calculations, diagrams, and construction packages
  • Interface with clients and vendors to support project execution
Qualifications
  • At least ten (10) years’ experience in the design of HVAC systems for industrial facilities
  • Proficiency in Revit
  • Thorough knowledge of codes and standards related to HVAC design
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with the project team remotely
Nice to have
  • Software experience in AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, and Trane Trace 3D
  • Experience in the design of plumbing/utility systems
