Safety Specialist I – OFF SHIFT

Job Summary:

The Safety Specialist I will report to the EHS Director or the EHS Manager and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS systems.

$70,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year

6:00 PM – 3:30 PM Sun–Wed and 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM Thursday (some variances may apply according to production schedule).

• Educate, communicate and enforce KCC environmental, health, and safety policies/procedures.
• Participate in the development of short and long‑term EHS goals.
• Present training modules to small and large groups.
• Participate in safety committees to drive shop floor safety presence.
• Facilitate root‑cause investigations for all reported incidents, no matter how minor, in unison with shop floor leadership.
• Complete all required inspections and drive closure to findings.
• Complete site hazard analysis through the JSA program.
• Assist with proper disposal of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste.
• Develop relationships with professional organizations and vendors.
• Participate in government agency inspections.
• Work off‑shift hours and respond to calls when needed.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the EHS Director or EHS Manager.

• 0–5 years of environmental health and safety experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Engineering, or related discipline.
• Must have experience working in a team environment and leading teams to meet/exceed goals.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving skills.

• Excellent personal computer skills and Microsoft products experience.
• Multisite experience.
• First‑Aid, AED, and CPR training.

• Must be able to stand six to eight hours per day.
• Ability to perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Follow established safety policies including mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first‑aid response, etc.
