Description
SummaryThe Theology Teacher delivers instruction in religious studies, fostering students’ understanding of theological concepts, and encourages critical thinking within the context of faith and spirituality. This role involves developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and creating a classroom environment that promotes respect, open discussion, and spiritual growth.
Duties & Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with the assigned course curriculum.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages respectful dialogues and fosters spiritual development.
- Incorporate a variety of teaching methods and resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Assess and evaluate students’ understanding through classroom discussions, assignments, and tests.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students in matters of faith, morality, and ethical issues.
- Participate in school-wide events, including religious services, retreats, and other faith-based activities.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements- Must be a practicing Catholic.
- Bachelor’s degree, relevant course work, and secondary teaching experience is required.
- Theology degree is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of religious teachings, scripture, and ethical principles.
- A passion for teaching and inspiring students in matters of faith and spirituality.
- Proficient in email communication, word processing, and presentation software, including tools within Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, with experience working across Apple iPad and Microsoft Desktop platforms.
This position requires a background check, and the employee must complete the Safe Environment Training course offered through the Archdiocese of Louisville. The course must be completed within 30 days of employment.
