SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIESThis position is responsible for assisting in the coordination, creation, and implementation of supports for Multilingual Learners (MLs) and their families. This position requires supporting in the coordination of resources and partnerships in conjunction with diverse community stakeholders and providing direct service to MLs and their families.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:INSTRUCTOR I BILINGUAL ASSOCIATE
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Passing Score on the Kentucky Para-educator Assessment or 48 college hours
- Demonstrated proficiency in two (2) languages, English and the appropriate language
- Experience in working with children and parents with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds
- Knowledge of or receptive to philosophy, policy and methodology of the U.S. educational system
- Effective communication skills
INSTRUCTOR II BILINGUAL ASSOCIATE
- Associate Degree or approved equivalent training (64 college semester hours) and experience
- One year of successful experience in related field
- Demonstrated proficiency in two (2) languages, English and the appropriate language
- Experience in working with children and parents with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds
- Knowledge of or receptive to philosophy, policy, and methodology of the U.S. educational system
- Effective communication skills
INSTRUCTOR III BILINGUAL ASSOCIATE
- Bachelor's degree
- Three (3) years of successful teaching experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in two (2) languages, English and the appropriate language
- Experience in working with children and parents with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds
- Knowledge of or receptive to philosophy, policy, and methodology of the U.S. educational system
- Effective communication skills
- If your highest education is High School or GED you must take and pass the Kentucky Para educator Assessment Exam. The exam is free and you have three chances to obtain a passing score. For assistance with studying for this assessment, click KPA Study Guide and / or sign up for the KPA Prep Class with JCPS Adult Education. You can sign up here and make sure to select “I want KPA classes” more information about the class can be found here.
To schedule to take the KPA test with our Adult Ed department . Upon completion of scheduling, you will receive a confirmation email from Adult Ed with additional instructions about the location, address and parking. - Applicants with transcripts obtained outside the U.S. will need to have their credentials evaluated prior to being referred for vacancies.
