Job Description Summary

St. Bernard is a fun, family‑oriented church and school community. Our preschool program is looking for two individuals who are patient, caring and responsible. We have a hands‑on learning approach that helps foster independence and a love for learning. Applicants need to be passionate about working with young children and joining a team of dedicated teachers. This is a full‑time position with benefits available.

St. Bernard runs on a school schedule not including summer.

Duties

The lead preschool teacher is responsible for planning and implementing classroom activities. This position requires the candidate to maintain an organized and well‑developed classroom environment. The lead teacher will work with other staff members and aides collaboratively for the best interest of the children in our care and the school. Teachers are responsible for some light cleaning in their classrooms. Applicants will be asked to attend periodic meetings and be available for family/teacher conferences twice a year.

Requirements
  • Early Childhood Degree, CDA, or prior experience working with children
  • Prior early childhood classroom experience is necessary
  • Demonstrates knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
  • Ability to plan and implement classroom activities
  • Good classroom management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work well with others
  • Responsible for completing 15 hours of PD each year
  • Able to follow all DRCC regulations
  • Familiar with and able to follow KY ALLSTARS standards
