Position Overview:

As a State Aid and Scholarship Manager at Galen College of Nursing, you will ensure the accurate and timely administration of non-federal financial aid programs, including, but not limited to, Veteran’s Educational Benefits, third-party agency payments, employer programs, scholarships, and state funding.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with campus Financial Aid and Student Accounts teams to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of non-federal financial aid packaging and disbursement, providing excellent service to both external and internal customers.
  • Work closely with the federal financial aid department within the Office of Financial Aid to ensure excellent service is provided consistently to both external and internal customers.
  • Execute standardized processes surrounding the certification and packaging of all non-federal financial aid awards, as established by the Office of Financial Aid, including, but not limited to, Veteran’s Educational Benefits, third-party agency payments, employer programs, scholarships, and state funding.
  • Utilize information systems to thoroughly document work performed in award packaging, processing of workflows, and document management.
  • Maintain compliance with all non-federal financial aid programs.
  • Assist in regular auditing of our campus processes to evaluate the effectiveness of current policies and procedures and ensure compliance with all non-federal financial aid rules and regulations.
  • Assist in other phases of financial aid, as necessary.
  • Attend financial aid training, workshops, and conferences, as necessary.
  • Position Requirements:
    • Education:

      Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements.
    • Experience:

      Experience working with federal financial aid, non-title IV awards, or veterans’ educational benefits preferred. Additional experience using Ellucian Colleague or Regent Financial Aid Management systems desired.
    • Skills:

      Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with a diverse group of students, staff, faculty, and the community in a service-oriented environment. Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects while meeting deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
    • Special

      Qualifications:

      Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Position requires great attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to enroll in and be granted access to all Department of Education websites, including, but not limited to, NSLDS, COD, CPS, etc. Only candidates with no prior history of student loan default will be considered.
    • Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:
      Must be able to sit at a computer desk for eight (8) hours at a time.
    • Degree of Supervision:
      Minimal.
