, located in Louisville, Kentucky, is seeking a fellowship-trained or fellowship-eligible advanced heart failure cardiologist to join its expanding program. The ideal candidate will join our Advanced Heart Failure & Recovery Program, a multidisciplinary team that includes three board-certified, fellowship-trained heart failure cardiologists, eight heart failure advanced practice providers, two ventricular-assist device surgeons, dedicated heart failure nurse navigators, a social worker, financial counselor, pharmacist, perfusionist and ventricular assist device coordinators.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The ideal candidate will have expertise in advanced heart failure therapies, including:
- Management of patients who have heart failure with preserved systolic function and heart failure with reduced systolic function
- Ability to risk-stratify patients who need disease management, guideline-directed medical therapy or referral for advanced surgical options, including LVAD or heart transplantation
- Knowledge of device management, including implantable cardiac defibrillator and cardiac resynchronization therapy
- Experience with heart failure monitoring tools, including the Cardio
MEMS HF system, ReDS system vest and Life Vest - Ability to perform right heart catheterizations and endomyocardial biopsies
- Interest in temporary and permanent mechanical circulatory support, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)
- Collaborate with hospital and community wide initiatives around readmission reduction and post-acute care for heart failure patients
- Support and manage VAD implant patients and heart transplant patients with pre- and post-transplant follow-up through the UK Health Care Gill Heart & Vascular Institute Affiliate Network
- Collaborate with Norton Children’s Heart Institute, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, to provide total congenital heart disease and mechanical circulatory support in conjunction with their pediatric heart transplant program
- Join current efforts participating in heart failure and transplant national research studies, including support for investigator-initiated projects
- Telecardiology services readily available
- Advanced practice provider first call structure
