UofL Health and the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, KY, are recruiting an academic Anesthesiologist with a subspecialty certification in critical care to join its Cardiovascular Critical Care division.
The intensivists lead the multi-disciplinary Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) team at the UofL Health – Heart Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. This 17-bed unit houses critically ill cardiac surgical patients, patients requiring mechanical circulatory support, heart and lung transplant recipients, and patients with unstable ascending aortic disease.
The CVICU team includes physicians, non-physician providers, nurses, pharmacists, and therapists. The unit also hosts medical students and postgraduate trainees from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, including Critical Care Anesthesiology fellows.
Opportunities exist for teaching, research, scholarly efforts, and clinical work in Anesthesiology. Academic rank will be based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and interests.
The Division of Cardiovascular Critical Care is part of the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. The department's multidisciplinary design fosters collaboration between critical care and surgical teams.
The ideal candidate is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, has completed an ACGME-accredited critical care fellowship, and is board-certified or eligible in Critical Care. They must hold active medical licensure in Kentucky, current BLS and ACLS certifications, and possess an unrestricted DEA number.
