Summary
The Patient Advocate I position is the "first impression" position of Advance Dental Center. The Patient Advocate is a part of the front office team and is the liaison between patients and back office staff. This position is a floater position, so it will fill in at any location that needs a front desk. This position takes on front office responsibilities while providing a high level of customer service.
The patient advocate reports directly to the office manager at the East location.
Hourly / Non-Exempt
Duties and Responsibilities- Greet and build rapport with patients as they enter into the dental practice.
- Answering phone calls in a timely manner.
- Verifying patients’ appointments through email, text and phone calls through Open Dental.
- Making proactive phone calls to schedule appointments off the ASAP list.
- Checking in all patients for their appointments.
- Maintaining and updating patients' profiles within Open Dental as needed prior to the appointment.
- Ensuring that the patient’s dental insurance is verified prior to the appointment.
- Collecting patient fees and copays prior to the appointment.
- Ensuring that the patient understands their treatment plan and payment options.
- Providing patients with quotes on dental procedures.
- Ensuring that the patient is checked out and offered a follow-up appointment.
- Maintaining a clean and sterilized reception and front desk area.
- Updating the office manager for ordering office supply needs as needed.
- Completing other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- Must be able to provide a high level of customer service.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous experience working in the dental field is preferred.
- Must have the ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast paced environment.
- Must follow HIPAA compliance.
- Must be well organized and have excellent computer skills.
- Must be able to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in an area where the noise level is typical of an office environment.
