• The Courier Journal, part of the USA TODAY Network, is seeking an assistant sports editor and newsroom leader with a proven ability to help us own a highly competitive and critical part of our coverage while helping elevate the overall trajectory of the Sports team.
• The Louisville area has some of the highest-profile coverage opportunities in the country: national championship-caliber college basketball programs; SEC and ACC football; and the world-famous Kentucky Derby.
• Drive real-time coverage across digital platforms and help develop reporters. The ideal candidate understands sports coverage is more than X's and O's and will help the Sports Team tell stories that educate and inform fans in metro Louisville and the commonwealth.
• Lead with passion, leadership, coaching, and strategic planning; work side-by-side with reporters to elevate their work and connect stories to the community.
• Copy editing experience is required and the willingness to write as needed. The position includes regular evening work during coverage of events.
