Overview
The position of Classroom Support is to act as an enthusiastic and motivating role model for the children they serve. This role will be responsible to assist with activities for the children. The Classroom Support will foster positive relationships, encourage learning through play, and ensure the well-being of every child in their care.
Duties- Child Supervision & Safety:
Maintain a secure and engaging environment for children. Monitor children's activities to ensure safety and well-being. Follow emergency protocols and respond to incidents appropriately. Ensure toys, play areas, and equipment are clean and safe. - Daily Care & Basic Needs:
Assist children with daily routines such as meals, naps, and hygiene. Change diapers and assist with toilet training, as needed. Encourage healthy eating habits and ensure proper hydration. - Educational & Developmental
Activities:
Implement appropriate activities that promote learning and social development. Support cognitive, emotional, and physical growth through structured play and interactive learning. Read stories, lead arts and crafts, and facilitate sensory activities. - Social & Emotional Support:
Foster a warm, inclusive, and respectful atmosphere. Guide children with age-appropriate social behaviors. Provide comfort and reassurance to children experiencing distress. - Communication &
Collaboration:
Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, lead teachers, and administration. Work collaboratively with other childcare staff to ensure a smooth daily operation. Document incidents, concerns, and developmental milestones. - Compliance & Professionalism:
Adhere to all licensing and safety regulations. Maintain a clean and organized childcare space. Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
- High school diploma required.
- Previous experience, formal and/or informal, in a childcare setting preferred.
- Willingness to complete required childcare training and/or certifications as in CPR/First Aid, etc.
- Ability to be team-oriented.
- Ability to communicate and engage with children of all abilities.
- Commitment to and promote equity and inclusion practices.
