Overview
Montessori Kids Universe Louisville is looking for a floater/aftercare teacher. The After-Care Teacher is responsible for supervising and engaging children after regular school hours. This role provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that supports children’s growth and independence through age-appropriate activities, outdoor play, and enrichment opportunities. The After-Care Teacher ensures smooth transitions at the end of the school day and works closely with parents during pick-up.

- Program Supervision
- Supervise children during after-care hours with patience and attentiveness.
- Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate activities (art, games, reading, outdoor play).
- Maintain structure, safety, and positive discipline at all times.
- Provide a calm and supportive atmosphere for children finishing their day.
- Dismissal & Parent Communication
- Ensure a smooth and orderly pick-up process.
- Verify pick-up authorizations and maintain accurate records.
- Communicate with parents as needed during dismissal in a positive and professional manner.
- Environment & Operations
- Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting after-care environment.
- Report supply needs, maintenance issues, or safety concerns to administration.
- Support the school’s overall mission and uphold Montessori philosophy.
- Safety & Well-Being
- Maintain proper staff-to-child ratios.
- Supervise children both indoors and outdoors, ensuring their physical and emotional safety.
- Be capable of communicating with emergency personnel and following emergency procedures.
- Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
- Other Duties
- Assist with light classroom or school closing tasks at the end of the day.
- Perform related duties as requested by the Administrative Team.
- Follow personnel policies of the school.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Arrive on time, rested, and ready to meet the demands of the day.
- Participate in required staff meetings and trainings.
- Be flexible, adaptable, and able to transition between classrooms quickly.
- Sit on the floor, bend, stoop, and move easily to engage with children.
- Move classroom furniture/materials/equipment as needed.
- Remain alert, attentive, and responsive to children’s needs.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.
- Lift up to 40 lbs. as required.
