GE Appliances is building the next generation of innovative, high-quality appliances, and sourcing excellence plays a critical role in that mission. The Senior Commodity Buyer is a strategic leadership role responsible for managing a complex supply base, driving competitive sourcing strategies, and partnering across the business to deliver cost, quality, and delivery results.
In this role, you will manage commodities with an annual spend of $60M and oversee 13 key suppliers supporting GE Appliances products and programs. You will lead sourcing strategies, strengthen supplier partnerships, and ensure supplier performance aligns with business, quality, and operational goals.

How You'll Create Possibilities What You Will Do Sourcing strategy leadership- Lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies for assigned commodities through close alignment with Business Unit Leaders, Quality, and Technology teams, informed by market intelligence, competitive analysis, and structured negotiations
- Partner with R&D, marketing, product management, operations, and manufacturing teams to drive material cost reduction, quality improvements, on-time delivery, and cash flow optimization
- Own end-to-end supplier relationships, including commercial agreements, performance management, and supply chain execution
- Negotiation and commercial excellence
- Use RFQ tools and sourcing systems to manage negotiations and deliver successful outcomes for assigned commodities and programs
- Assess and mitigate supplier risks, including structural, geopolitical, and financial factors, to maintain a resilient and reliable supply base
- Supplier-driven innovation
- Champion supplier innovation to improve cost efficiency, product performance, and feature differentiation
- Serve as a key liaison between Sourcing, cross-functional partners, and suppliers to support programs and new product introductions
- Strategic supplier engagement
- Build and sustain strategic supplier partnerships through regular business reviews and ongoing performance dialogue
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in supply chain, program management, commodity management, or a related role involving negotiations, supplier selection, opportunity identification, and/or contract implementation
- MRP experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working with multicultural teams
- Demonstrated initiative and proactive ownership, with the ability to anticipate actions, influence outcomes, and translate plans into results
- Demonstrated experience managing international suppliers
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% (domestic and/or international) to affiliate sites and suppliers
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, or business administration preferred
