Job Summary

Jefferson Community and Technical College seeks an Access
* Ability Resource Center Specialist to support the Access
* Ability Resource Center (ARC) and the Office of Student Support and Advocacy (OSSA). This role provides administrative and student support services, coordinates accommodations, maintains confidential records, collaborates with campus partners, and conducts new-student intakes. The position requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and commitment to student success.

Job Duties
  • Perform general administrative support duties, including composing and processing confidential correspondence, memoranda, newsletters, reports, and maintaining accurate filing systems.
  • Serve as front-line support for the Access
    * Ability Resource Center (ARC), greeting visitors, answering phones, monitoring e-mail accounts, responding to inquiries, and distributing mail.
  • Conduct new student intakes for the ARC, including meeting with students to review documentation, explain ARC policies and procedures, assess accommodation needs, and initiate service coordination.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment to support student accommodations, including assisting with exam proctoring for students with disabilities.
  • Scan, maintain, and manage confidential departmental materials in compliance with FERPA and institutional confidentiality standards.
  • Maintain accurate student recordkeeping systems.
  • Assign students to ARC Coordinators and follow up with students to obtain required documentation.
  • Track the departmental budget; create purchase orders; complete electronic business forms; and maintain inventory of departmental supplies.
  • Assist the Access
    * Ability Resource and Testing Center Director with data collection, reporting, and compliance-related documentation concerning students with disabilities.
  • Provide administrative support to the Assistant Vice President for Student Support and Advocacy related to OSSA operations.
  • Prepare and distribute accommodation notification letters to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Provide information and assistance to current and prospective students regarding ARC eligibility, requirements, and available services.
  • Assist with outreach efforts, including the dissemination of ARC and OSSA publications at campus tabling and recruitment events.
  • Train and supervise student workers, including scheduling and task coordination.
  • Assist students with external agency processes, including completion of forms and required documentation.
  • Maintain and coordinate departmental calendars, schedules, and arrangements for ARC-sponsored events.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to ensure equitable access to the academic environment for students with disabilities.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, institutional committees, work groups, and professional development opportunities.
  • Promote a positive, student-centered, and success-oriented departmental climate.
  • Communicate effectively with the Access
    * Ability Resource and Testing Center Director, the Assistant Vice President for Student Support and Advocacy, and other staff to ensure efficient departmental operations.
  • Support Testing Center operations, including proctoring Accuplacer, KYOTE, IC3, and CAMLA exams.
