The State Group is seeking a Staff Accountant based in Delta Services. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.

- Prepare journal entries and assist the month-end close.
- Apply customer payments to open invoices and research discrepancies or unapplied cash.
- Prepare departmental and reconciliation reports.
- Assist in compiling data for audit requests.
- Maintain reports, spreadsheets, charts, and graphs to assist in the interpretation of operating results.
- Analyze costs related to projects and communicate with Project Managers to ensure accuracy.
- Review accounts payable transactions for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with billing service jobs, ensuring invoices are accurate, timely, and properly supported.
- Support the team by handling various data entry tasks, miscellaneous assignments, and other duties as assigned.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- A bachelor’s degree (BA) in accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience.
- A background in the construction industry is considered a plus, but not a requirement.
- Experience with financial software, and advanced MS Excel experience including linking documents, working with formulas, and creating pivot tables.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively.
