About the Company
A leading real estate investment and management firm is seeking an Accountant, Property Accounting to support the continued growth of its senior living portfolio. This role plays a key part in the accounting close cycle and the preparation of accurate and timely property-level financial statements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Position OverviewThe Accountant, Property Accounting will be responsible for month-end close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis for a diverse portfolio of properties. This position offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with operations, finance, and asset management teams while supporting ongoing process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Consolidate and analyze accounting results for assigned property portfolios.
- Prepare month-end close deliverables, including journal entries, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Ensure financial statements are accurate and in compliance with GAAP.
- Interpret management and lease agreements to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
- Support internal control procedures and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Collaborate with FP&A, Asset Management, and third-party operators to analyze and communicate financial results.
- Assist with external reporting, audits, and integration of new or transitioning properties.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred.
- 3+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in real estate, property, or portfolio accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint;
Yardi experience a plus. - Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
