We are seeking to hire experienced lateral police officers, POST certified candidates, or those currently enrolled in an academy. Salary and Benefits

2026 Police Officer Pay Band: $82,847 to $105,726. Hiring range is dependent on qualifications and up to Step 3 for lateral hires. Step 1 salary is $39.83 hourly or $82,847. Step 3 lateral officer salary is $91,339/year with room to grow. Step 6 top officer salary is $105,726.

Position

Summary

A Louisville Police Officer will work under the supervision of a Police Sergeant or Police Corporal and performs a wide variety of police and law enforcement duties. Officers respond to situations requiring public safety presence, protect life and property, maintain public order, conduct investigations, enforce traffic and municipal codes, apprehend and arrest offenders, and conduct civil processes. Officers may use physical force, including deadly force, when necessary, and are held to a high ethical standard on and off duty.

Education, Training & Experience
  • Must be 21 years of age at time of hiring; no maximum age cutoff
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Current Colorado P.O.S.T. certification or certification obtained by date of hire required
  • P.O.S.T. certified out-of-state candidates are eligible for hire but must obtain provisional CO P.O.S.T certification

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years of certified law enforcement experience with a similar-sized agency or larger
  • College degree with coursework in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Public Administration, Sociology, Business Administration, Management, Emergency Management, or related field
  • A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
  • Bi-lingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
Special License, Registration, or Certification Required
  • Certified as a Peace Officer by the State of Colorado P.O.S.T. Board by time of hire, or provisional CO P.O.S.T certification for out-of-state candidates
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License with acceptable driving record, or ability to obtain upon becoming a Colorado resident
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation including background checks, medical exam, drug screen, polygraph, and psychological examination
