The Optical Talent Center at Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an Opto‑Mechanical Thermal Engineer to provide support with thermal analysis, thermal management design (passive and active), and thermal testing for optical payloads.
We are looking for someone to join our team with the guidance of senior engineers, and to collaborate and contribute across the design team. You will play a key role in design and development work on a variety of passive, active, and directed energy optical payloads, which present a diverse range of cooling and thermal management challenges.
We are looking for a colleague with strong written and oral communication skills to present to a variety of audiences. Strong quantitative skills will also be key to success, with the ability to apply them to the formidable mechanical challenges of precision optical payload subsystems.
Desired Skills- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
- Experience using the following or similar software packages:
Thermal Desktop, Matlab, CREO and Windchill. - Experience with STOP (Structural Thermal Optical Performance) analysis.
- Experience with thermal testing & instrumentation including test procedure development, instrumentation definition, test direction, and post‑test model correlation.
- Experience with space remote sensing and/or missile defense optical payloads.
- Active Secret clearance.
