Overview
Position Summary: Our campus has an immediate opening for a part-time Music Teacher on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This position provides a student-centered, supportive classroom that promotes resourcefulness, critical thinking, self-awareness, and inclusion while addressing the individual academic and emotional needs of each student through Fusion’s differentiated approach. This opportunity is for Tuesdays and Thursdays only at this time. Pay rate: $28.75.
Responsibilities- Provide a one-to-one teaching experience in music creation (songwriting, composition, beat making), audio recording and music production (especially electronic music production), and traditional musical instruction (instrumental music such as guitar, drums, bass, keyboard) and music fundamentals/enrichment (theory, appreciation) for grade levels 6-12. Approximately 70% of the teaching load focuses on musical creativity through music technology.
- Show evidence of adapting and differentiating instruction for all students and fostering a classroom forum for holistic growth.
- Maintain complete and accurate records.
- Develop and maintain genuine, positive, and consistent communication with parents.
- Contribute to and benefit from the campus community.
- Demonstrate professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor students in addition to subject matter tutoring and teaching.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree required for consideration.
- Solid experience and working knowledge in musical creativity (mostly contemporary commercial music), analog/digital music technology, and instrumental performance (guitar, drums, keyboard).
- Proficiency with tools and techniques of contemporary recording and music production: microphones, digital audio, audio editing, MIDI and virtual instruments, audio effects/processors, synthesis, sampling, and mixing.
- Proficiency with at least two of the three industry-standard DAWs:
Pro Tools, Logic, and Ableton Live. - Desirable: vocal pedagogy, bass, music theory, music history, and audio for multimedia applications.
- Teaching credentials are a plus but not mandatory.
- Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD; mentoring experience is a plus.
- Outgoing, well-organized, competent in basic computer skills, and eager to work in a dynamic, energetic school setting.
- Prepared to teach and tutor material at a high school level immediately.
- Expertise in the relevant subject area.
- Understanding of learning differences and emotional difficulties.
- Ability to mentor as a positive role model.
- Ability to understand and support each student’s profile.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
- Self-directed, proactive, capable of curriculum and assessment knowledge, multi-tasking, problem solving, and professional written and verbal communication.
- Ability to connect with students with patience and compassion; ability to manage stress and maintain a positive attitude.
