Overview

The Material Controller must be knowledgeable of maintenance and construction materials. Knowledge of computer equipment is required where applicable. The candidate must learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work and learn to safely and effectively use or operate work-related tools. The role requires working in a plant operations or construction jobsite setting.

Responsibilities

  • Order materials when required.
  • Schedule equipment through proper protocol.
  • Set up, charge, all work orders and account numbers.
  • Receive, inspect, help unload and distribute materials/equipment received.
  • Set up and maintain inventory system and reordering.
  • Assist contract supervision upon request.
  • Assist in the field when needed.
  • Maintain file system and cross-reference book.
  • Attain proper accounting documents for all work order numbers monthly.
  • Assist operator with orders when requested.
  • Locate specialty equipment such as transition pieces, check valves, etc.
  • Load and unload equipment and materials.

Qualifications

Physical

  • Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Subject to repetitive use of hands/arms.
  • Occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, use hands and fingers to handle and feel.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Will need to perform sedentary to heavy work.

Mental

  • Must have the ability to direct others and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
  • Ability to perform sedentary to heavy work.
  • Talking, reading, and writing comprehension are necessary for giving and receiving directions and understanding safety policies.
  • Ability to use math and complete calculations.
  • Must be able to concentrate amid distractions and remember details.
  • Ability to use computer, keyboard, telephone, and other office devices.
