About this role:

This is a high‑impact fundraising leadership opportunity focused on building and advancing a comprehensive grateful patient and major gift strategy for Tulane’s Section of Cardiology.

As the primary development officer for Cardiology, you will partner closely with physicians, clinical leaders, and School of Medicine advancement leadership to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors capable of making transformational gifts. You will manage a robust portfolio of approximately 100‑150 prospects and focus on securing gifts ranging from $50,000 to $1,000,000.

If you are energized by relationship‑building, motivated by mission‑driven work in healthcare, and skilled at closing six‑ and seven‑figure gifts, this role offers the autonomy, visibility, and institutional partnership to make a measurable impact.

How you will spend your time Major Gift Fundraising (45%)
  • Manage a portfolio of 100‑150 cardiology patients and prospects with major gift capacity
  • Secure major gifts of $100,000+ from individuals, family foundations, and donor‑advised funds
  • Collaborate with Cardiology and School of Medicine leadership to set annual fundraising goals aligned with strategic priorities
  • Develop and execute annual work plans including visits, proposals, and solicitation strategies
  • Partner with physicians and clinical staff to identify grateful patients and facilitate joint solicitations
Cultivation and Solicitation (20%)
  • Identify and qualify new prospects through thoughtful research and relationship‑building
  • Design tailored cultivation strategies and move donors through the giving cycle
  • Prepare compelling proposals, case statements, and stewardship materials
  • Engage and support faculty and volunteer leaders in major gift solicitations
  • Coordinate meaningful recognition and stewardship experiences
Community Engagement and Events (15%)
  • Lead and support Heart Awareness Month activities to elevate visibility and community engagement
  • Partner with marketing, research, and clinical teams to develop donor communications and annual reports
