Location: Sunshine
Overview
Our Lady’s Sunshine – is seeking a compassionate, organised and capable Parish Secretary to be the welcoming face of our parish. This fixed-term role is 15 hours per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday). Parking is available. A warm, community-focused role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide secretarial and office support services to the Parish Priest and the Parish community.
- Maintain all Parish Registries for Baptism, Marriage and deaths and respond to enquiries on these matters and refer families to the appropriate Parish team member.
- Prepare the weekly bulletin for distribution each weekend, including liturgical responses and rosters.
- Assist with parish website updates.
- Maintain orderly digital files and archives as appropriate.
- Attain a general understanding of duties of other staff members or volunteers to support during annual leave or sickness.
- Assist when required the Parish Finance Officer in the maintenance of the Stewardship Program and other programs; assist with the training of new employees and volunteers in the office.
- Strong administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Warm, values-driven personality with a genuine commitment to the Church’s mission.
- Compassionate and respectful approach to people from all walks of life, especially those experiencing mental health challenges or social isolation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with healthy, professional boundaries.
- A proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to ask for help when needed.
- Integrity, confidentiality, life experience, and a good sense of humour.
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Current Police Check
- Valid Driver Licence
- Annual acknowledgement of the expectations and responsibilities outlined in the Safeguarding Children and Young People Code of Conduct.
- Successful completion of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne’s Safeguarding Essentials online training module annually.
