The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth. We are seeking a seasoned professional to serve as Juvenile Justice Specialist 5, a senior‑level role responsible for overseeing facility operations, supervising staff, and ensuring the safety and rehabilitation of youth in secure care.
Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the work of Juvenile Justice Specialists across shifts.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, behavioral management procedures, and agency standards.
- Monitor youth behavior and intervene in crisis situations using approved techniques.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Collaborate with facility leadership to implement programming and operational improvements.
- Review incident reports, documentation, and ensure timely submission of required records.
- Serve as a role model for professional conduct and ethical leadership.
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED plus one year of experience in any field, along with one of the following:
- Three years of experience in a residential, correctional, behavioral health, or group home setting with responsibility for rehabilitation of delinquent youth, clinical care, custody, or security.
- Three years of experience in Probation and Parole.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. A conviction of a felony or an indictment on a felony charge disqualifies an applicant until relief is granted. A conviction or engagement in any form of sexual abuse, or any activity under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) disqualifies an applicant. The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1(c).
Compensation& Benefits
Special Entrance Rate: $1,971.20 biweekly. Full time, probationary.
