Position Summary
As a Heavy Equipment Operator at LRA, you will be responsible for safely operating bulldozers, excavators, and other heavy grading equipment to perform essential construction tasks.
Job Responsibilities & Related Skills
Operate excavators, dozers, and other grading equipment to cut, fill, grade, and level dirt and gravel to project specifications.Utilize GPS/UTS machine control systems in dozers and excavators for accurate site operations.Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to understand project requirements.Execute a range of civil site scopes including mass excavation, grading, large diameter pipe installation, subsurface utility installation, drainage establishment, and material stockpiling.Appropriately excavate at borrow and aggregate loading sites, establishing and maintaining off-road trucking routes, and loading dump trucks with materials.Perform daily inspections and maintenance on equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation.Conduct pre- and post-inspections of equipment and perform minor maintenance as necessary.Collaborate with team members and assist in various roles on the site as needed.Carry out general labor duties as required, involving strenuous physical labor.Maintain a clean and organized job site; secure tools and equipment to eliminate hazards.Follow all safety procedures and report incidents or problems to the foreman, safety director, or HR manager.Required Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment, specifically bulldozers and excavators.Knowledge in using rotating lasers and GPS systems for grading and trenching activities.Experience reading and interpreting construction blueprints and specifications.Familiarity with civil engineering practices, including mass excavation, grading, and underground utility work.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.Capability to perform strenuous physical labor and adapt to varying site conditions.Work EnvironmentThe position requires frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts. Job sites may present extreme weather conditions such as high heat, humidity, cold, and rain, with loud noise levels commonly experienced near equipment.
Physical Demands
Heavy Equipment Operators must be capable of lifting heavy objects, standing and walking for extended periods, and engaging in physically demanding tasks. Effective manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination are required, as well as excellent stamina to handle the demands of the job in challenging environments.
