The Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women is seeking an experienced Maintenance Foreman to lead and coordinate facility maintenance operations across the institution. This role is essential to ensuring safe, reliable buildings and systems, and requires a hands‑on leader who can guide staff, manage projects, and uphold high standards of workmanship.

Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on‑the‑job experience:

  • Four years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
  • Completion of a two‑year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
  • Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.

Job Duties
  • Serves as a foreman over an inmate maintenance crew. Assigns tasks and jobs, provides assistance and guidance to inmates, inspects and approves completed jobs.
  • Maintenance and repair of all systems during the weekend on‑call duty status.
  • Training and supervising inmates who assist in maintenance and repair.

Appointment Type: JOB APPOINTMENT

  • A job appointment is a temporary job lasting up to four years; however, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
  • This position may also be filled as a probational appointment if a non‑temporary position becomes available in the recruitment process.
  • If filled by probation, a permanent classified LA State employee, if selected, may be required to accept a probational appointment.
