Traveling Sheet Metal Foreman (Bilingual in English and Spanish Highly Preferred)
We are seeking a Traveling Sheet Metal Foreman to lead and manage commercial and industrial sheet metal projects.
Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are highly preferred to help effectively communicate with a diverse workforce. The Foreman will oversee job site operations, ensure high-quality craftsmanship, maintain project schedules, and enforce safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in sheet metal fabrication and installation, along with excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and direct a team of ~10-16 sheet metal workers on job sites.
- Communicate job instructions/ JHA’s, safety procedures, and project updates in both English and Spanish (if applicable).
- Read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, and project plans.
- Assign tasks, oversee the assembly and installation of ductwork, flashing, panels and other sheet metal components.
- Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and industry standards.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to maintain project timelines.
- Conduct material take-offs and order necessary supplies.
- Train and mentor crew members, ensuring clear instruction and skill development.
- Enforce company policies and OSHA safety regulations on-site.
- Perform weekly toolbox safety talks.
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during installation and fabrication.
- Maintain records of safety, labor, materials, and progress reports.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE &
SKILLS:
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in sheet metal installation, with 2+ years in a supervisory role.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or apprenticeship preferred).
- Language: Bilingual – English and Spanish (Highly Preferred).
- Certifications: OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, and other relevant industry certifications preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction blueprints and shop drawings.
- Skilled in using sheet metal tools and measuring devices.
- Knowledge of HVAC ductwork, architectural sheet metal, and fabrication techniques.
- Understandings of SMACNA duct construction standards and SMACNA DALT standards.
- Effective problem-solving and communication skills.
- Proficient in using an iPad and programs like Procore for document access.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces as needed.
