Experienced Diesel Mechanic

Overview

J.J. Nichting is looking for an Experienced Diesel Mechanic for our Pilot Grove location. This position requires that you be able to work independently to perform diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural equipment.

• Ability to inspect agricultural equipment to diagnose and determine what repairs are needed.
• Ability to perform basic/complex agricultural equipment repairs as requested.
• Ability to perform routine preventative maintenance.
• Complete all electronic documentation for assigned work orders in detail.
• Maintain current product knowledge of Case IH products.
• Communicate with other service departments and their members.
• Communicate with parts staff to order and receive correct parts.
• Help to mentor and guide apprenticeship students.

• Associates Degree in Diesel Technology with 3-5 years of experience preferred

• Ability to perform advanced repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment while following technical manual procedures.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of agricultural equipment.
• Excellent skills in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends during planting and harvest seasons.
• Basic knowledge of computer functions.
• Basic knowledge of equipment safety procedures.
• Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Extremely detail oriented

• Primarily inside service shop.
• Ability to work in all weather elements based on location of job.
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
• Standing for extended periods of time.
• Repetitive bending and/or kneeling.

• Minimal travel to and from job sites
