Overview
JOB DESCRIPTION A Lead I&E Technician will lead a crew of I&E technicians in the execution of safe, quality, and efficient completion of various tasks related to I&E maintenance work being performed at a petrochemical processing plant, including but not limited to:
- Lead Technician overseeing, coordinating, and executing craft specific instrumentation and electrical labor.
- Perform skilled instrumentation/electrical activities; disassembly, repair, test, troubleshoot, analysis, calibration, and/or installation of various types of equipment such as pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters; control valves; motor and motor control circuits; variable frequency drives; low- and high-pressure tubing/piping systems; and measuring/gauging equipment that control, regulate, and/or monitor mechanical systems.
- Providing support services such as but not limited to firewatch, holewatch, bottle watch, light equipment/vehicle operation, material kitting/delivery, general housekeeping, etc.
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements – see below.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be willing and able to work up to 7 days per week; overtime, call-out, etc. as required.
- Must be capable of working under the direction of a skilled Foreman.
- Must be experienced with and/or capable of successfully completing all required training/qualifications necessary to oversee safety-sensitive work, including hot work, confined space entry, and fresh air work.
- Will be expected to assist other crafts when not actively performing instrumentation and electrical activities.
- Must be capable of reading, understanding, and adhering to restrictions and/or requirements of various types of work permits and/or JSAs.
- Must successfully complete Short Service Employee (SSE) program, if applicable.
- Must successfully complete a 90-day probationary period with disciplinary/attendance implications.
- Must maintain satisfactory bi-annual evaluation scores of no less than 3.0; unsatisfactory scores for two consecutive cycles may lead to disciplinary action up to termination.
- Craft specific labor as outlined above.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency in an industrial environment.
- Perform pre-task hazard assessments to identify risks and implement mitigation techniques.
- Have extensive, demonstrated experience performing maintenance on industrial equipment in a petrochemical facility, using precision instruments and tools.
- Actively participate in site programs such as Safe Catch/Quality Catch/Stop Work Authority and Continuous Improvement (SMART Focus).
- Support applicable customer initiatives/programs.
Current or Former Zachry Employee with acceptable ESR ratings only.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities- NCCER Performance Verified (PV) certification for Instrumentation and/or Electrical Tech or certification from an accredited instrumentation and/or electrical tech training program.
- Minimum score of 81% on the Zachry Craft Assessment test pre-employment.
- 5-10 years of related experience as a Lead I&E Tech.
- Experience using industrial hand and power tools in an industrial work environment.
- Good problem-solving abilities and an agile mindset.
- Aptitude for electrical theory, with effective computing, literacy, numeracy skills, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and valid Driver’s License.
- Effective communication skills (written and/or verbal) with co-workers, supervisors, and customer.
- Strong commitment/understanding of Zachry and customer core values, safety rules, and regulations.
- Valid TWIC card for the duration of employment.
- Maintain applicable Safety Council and/or Site-Specific credentials for the duration of employment.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and industrial drawings (e.g., blueprints, wiring diagrams, P&) to determine scope of work, locations, tools, and materials.
- Knowledge and experience with hoisting/lifting/rigging practices to perform activities safely with equipment as needed.
