Diesel Technician​/Mechanic III - Entry Level

Location: 5900 Almonaster Ave, New Orleans, LA 70126

Ready to accelerate your career while helping our customers move forward? As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on our fleet of vehicles. You will help keep vehicles in shape and on the road.

• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
• Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic diagnostics.
• Conduct preventative maintenance—e.g., tire replacement/rotation, component lubrication, electrical and cooling system work on gas and diesel engines.
• Partner with manager to learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and coaching.
• Work on other projects and tasks assigned by supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational/technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1‑2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Problem‑solving ability and comfort using tools.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Team‑player and able to work independently.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to comply with DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies.
• Reliable attendance—full attendance is essential.
• Understanding of DOT‑regulated driving responsibilities and required documentation.
• Willingness to work required schedule, location, and pass background, drug screen, and physical.

Pay: $22.75 per hour

Hours: 1st Shift

Shift Differentials:

• Second shift after 11am: $2/hour.
• Third shift after 9pm: $3/hour.
