America’s second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year‑round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot‑machine gaming facility and 13 off‑track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.
Job SummarySecurity Officers protect the property from vandalism, theft and other illegal activity. Officers may patrol the grounds or stay at a stationary position. Casino security officers also protect casino funds during transport. Officers must enforce all safety and security protocol related to slots, racing or backside operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Safeguard the company’s assets.
- Maintain security in the entire slot facility during assigned shift.
- Oversee guest and employee safety.
- Enforce the company’s policies and procedures.
- Prepare Guest Accident Reports and Security Incident Reports.
- Escort and co‑insure, and cash handling.
- Escort company personnel, as needed, into and from secured areas.
- Collect and transport drop boxes to storage area.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Ability to obtain a Gaming License issued by the Louisiana State Police.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
Two years of experience preferred. The requirements below represent the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret an extensive variety of instructions and handle several variables.
- Read, analyze, and interpret common documentation.
- Respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or staff members.
- Write and present information to management in a reasonable manner.
- Perform normal mathematical computations relevant to current duties.
- Constant motion, sit, hear and eye/hand coordination; frequently speak, read, write, stand, walk, bend, and stoop; occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull.
- Must be able to stand and walk, reach with arms and hands, bend, and lift at least 25 pounds.
- Office/Casino environment; subject to outdoor temperature/climate conditions such as cold/weather, rain/snow or heat; exposed to smoke, bright lights and noise at times.
- Work environment consists of very non-demanding surroundings with a low noise level.
