- Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.

Job Duties- Protect life and property, conduct proactive patrols, investigate auto crashes, theft, injuries; respond to calls for service; direct traffic; and enforce applicable laws and policies.
- Effect arrests, when necessary on or adjacent to LSUHSC property.
- Greet visitors and the public while offering assistance and direction.
- Accept supervisory responsibility for the LSU Health Sciences Center in the absence of a higher supervisory officer.
- Appointment Type:
Probational - In this position you are required to complete a 13 week Police Officer’s Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) academy held in Baton Rouge or Slidell to attain POST Certification. This academy requires passing physical fitness training (running, sit-ups, push-ups, etc.), firearms training and defensive tactics training, in addition to other training.
- Pay rate is dependent upon qualifications. Starting pay is 18.58 for a PO 1, 19.88 for a PO 2, and 21.27 for a PO 3. There is also an additional $2 Premium Pay, $1 Longevity Pay, and $2.50 Shift Differential for hours worked.
- These positions are in a Career Progression Group (CPG). Vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Police Officer 1, 2, or 3 depending on experience. See the LA Careers Civil Service site for salary ranges and minimum qualifications for each level.
- Pre-employment Drug testing, Physical and Criminal Background check are required.

Hours of Operation: 6:00 am – 6:30 pm or 6:00 pm – 6:00 am.
