This role provides security for patients, guests and employees as assigned. It enforces company policies and procedures and performs assigned duties that ensure the security of patients, guests, and employees in a courteous and professional manner.
EducationRequired:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Required:
None.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association within 30 days from hire.
- Valid driver's license in the state of practice and clean DMV report.
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) within 60 days from hire.
- International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification within 90 days of promotion/hire.
Skills and Abilities
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.
- This position is considered Team A Essential Personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
- Ability to continuously walk the company property including outside areas, interior areas, using stairwells in an 11‑floor plus structure.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call availability).
- Enforce all company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property.
- Conduct routine inspections of on‑site and off‑site locations of the company.
- Investigate accidents and other incidents and report all occurrences in a timely manner.
- Perform opening/lockdown of all buildings as approved by Administration.
- Participate in emergency response and related preparedness drills.
- Maintain required annual certifications and complete training requirements within required time periods.
- Operate and manage the visitor management system.
- Adapt communication style to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and explaining services or procedures clearly.
- Other related duties as required.
Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
Physical and Environmental DemandsMedium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The role involves walking, standing, and light pushing and pulling; exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases may occur.
