AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to food service, retail and food ingredient customers. ESSENTIALRESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:
- All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
- This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
- Execute required tests on finished product according to SOPs and customer requirements.
- Execute required test on incoming ingredients according to QMS (Quality Monitoring Scheme).
- Responsible for daily/weekly plating, reading, calibration, sample collection, Internal Control Plan, sample preparations, etc.
- Support investigations on improvement projects (e.g., holds, consumer complaints), help to identify root causes, and help to identify corrective actions and monitor effectiveness.
- Support training for operators to ensure process checks are accurate and timely as stated in QMS.
- Communicate out-of-specification product results to supervisor.
- Calibrate lab equipment such as pH meter and scales according to SOPs.
- Conduct daily routine sample analyses using lab techniques and other instrumentation following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Organize laboratory records and files. Ensure compliance to procedures and work instructions.
- Ensure correct recording of laboratory and quality records in compliance with SOPs including storage and retrieval of records.
- Support laboratory activities to ensure that a high quality of products, services, housekeeping, and hygiene standards are maintained and improved in laboratory and other analytical areas.
- Support laboratory compliance (calibration, equipment testing, etc.) to SQF and AMPI requirements.
- Employee shall follow and carry out company policy on all required GMP, quality and food safety requirements and escalate quality or food safety findings or incidents.
- Support execution of GMPs throughout the plant and follow safety rules and procedures.
- Support improvement of GMPs throughout the plant and follow safety rules and procedures.
- Support improvement initiatives (e.g., complaints, holds) for facility.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION- High School Diploma or General Education degree (GED) required.
