Summary

We are seeking a strategic, relationship-centered Communications & Development Manager to lead the organization's marketing, public relations, internal and external communications, fundraising communications, and community-facing events. This role shapes the school’s voice, supports enrollment, strengthens community relationships, manages materials and budgets, and ensures clear, consistent messaging across all channels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the annual communications and marketing strategy.
  • Ensure consistent messaging across digital, print, website, email, and social platforms.
  • Lead crisis and urgent-response communications.
  • Oversee digital and print advertising, media buying, and campaign placement.
  • Manage admissions and enrollment marketing plan.
  • Create marketing materials supporting enrollment and retention campaigns.
  • Use analytics and insights to guide strategy.
  • Serve as primary contact for media inquiries; draft press releases and talking points.
  • Maintain relationships with media outlets, partners, and vendors.
  • Write and distribute communications for families, staff, and the public; guide newsletters, announcements, emergency alerts.
  • Support leadership with speeches, presentations, and board communications.
  • Maintain photo archive of ISL events, students, activities.
  • Create, lead, and execute fundraising campaigns and communication plans.
  • Process donations and support donor engagement.
  • Coordinate signature events and cultural programs; oversee event communication and promotion.
  • Manage communications and marketing budget, accounting, billing, filing systems, and databases.
  • Coordinate with vendors for quotes, purchasing, invoicing, timelines.
  • Ensure cost‑effective use of resources and adherence to purchasing policies.
  • Monitor department phone and general inquiries.
  • Manage ISL Spirit Store inventory, distribution, and promotion.
  • Attend department and school events in representation of the organization.
  • Adapt to changing situations and multiple demands; support campus and admissions events.
Qualifications
  • Experience managing crisis communications.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong digital strategy, marketing, and event planning competency.
  • Proven project management and collaboration skills.
  • Strong relationship‑building and community engagement abilities.
  • Creative and strategic thinking.
  • Experience with filing systems and organizational databases.
  • Highly proficient with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, disciplined, and team player.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and juggle multiple projects.
Desired Experience
  • Office management.
  • Education, non‑profit marketing, fundraising, and/or event planning experience.
  • Photography or video production.
Desired or Willing to Learn
  • Social media platforms.
  • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $55,000–$65,000. Employees receive extended holiday and summer break, additional PTO, competitive insurance, flexible savings account options, and retirement benefits.

Work Environment
