The Role
We are looking for our next QC Lab Technician within our Plaquemine Methocel team. The QC Lab Technician will be responsible for analytical testing of all in-process and finished product samples. This is a 12‑hour rotating shift position, alternating between day and night every two weeks. The Technician provides analytical support for the Production department through timely and accurate testing of in-process samples, using wet chemistry and instrumentations such as gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography mass‑spectrometry (GC‑MS).

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $30 - $40/hr
. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered will be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
- Adhere to current good manufacturing practice (cGMP)
- Adhere to good lab practice (GLP)
- Follow all procedures related to both lab and EH&S safety practice
- Conduct all lab analysis according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Organize, maintain, and keep the lab
- Ensure all generated analytical lab results are compared to current specifications
- Document all lab results as required per cGMP
- Effectively communicate with lab co‑workers and IFF personnel in other departments
- Report to work in a punctual manner and act professionally in a work environment
- A.S./B.S. in Chemistry, Biology or a related field is preferred.

- Currently hold a valid US driver’s license.
- At least one year of experience quality testing using analytical equipment is preferred. Must have basic proficiency in computers to perform job tasks.
- Self‑starter and a team player who works effectively with others.
- Willing and able to work a 12‑hour rotating shift and overtime (including weekends & holidays) as required.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision within an empowered team environment.
- Strong work ethic.
- Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
- Stand 50% of the time.
- Walk for extended periods of time.
- Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
- Work in tight and closed in spaces.
- Our safety equipment has weight restrictions; must be able to use standard safety equipment rated for someone who weighs 300 pounds or less.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a respirator.
- Work in inclement weather.
- Work in hot, cold, loud environments.
- This is a full‑time position. Employees will begin working four ten‑hour days for approximately one month. During this time, they will complete their new employee integration checklist. Once this is complete, they will be assigned to a shift and begin working a 12‑hour rotating shift. The shift is called a 4-2-1 schedule.
