Quality Specialist

Job Title: Quality Specialist

Location: Amelia, LA

A Quality Specialist inspects materials and products for conformance to specifications, codes, drawings, and quality procedures.

• Examines materials or products for surface defects, such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.
• Interface between production, engineering, regulatory and customer for scheduling and documenting tests and inspections.
• Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.
• Verifies specified dimensions of product or material, using inspection equipment.
• Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.
• Test products for workmanship induced defects, such as leaks and internal cracks using air or water pressure.
• Test mechanisms for clearance and freedom of movement.
• Provide oversight (as required) during system commissioning by production or equipment manufacturers.
• Assists the Testing and Trials department personnel with systems testing and sea trials.
• Performs other duties as specified by the Program Manager or Post Delivery Warranty Program Manager.
• Develops inspection plans for new construction.

• Five (5) years of manufacturing, shipyard, or quality (testing and inspecting) experience.
• Knowledge to inspect three (3) or more of the following areas: structural fitting/welding, pipe fitting/welding, electrical/electronic systems, machining, painting (coating), mechanical and testing.
• Certified VT Level II or CWI required.

• Understanding of NDE methods including Radiographic Testing (RT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
• Ability to read and interpret codes and specifications, and advanced blueprint reading.
• Experienced in using Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel).
