Sanitation Worker

Position Purpose

The sanitation worker is a member of a cleaning crew whose duties are to clean and sanitize food and beverage processing plants to meet Quality Control and Bacterial Standards imposed by the customer and applicable governmental agencies, such as the USDA.

• Frequently lift/move hoses, equipment, chemical containers weighing 20-80 lbs. throughout each and every work shift.
• Wear employer‑specified protective gear, including gloves, face/eye shields, aprons, boots, etc.
• Exposure to chemical cleaning solution (with protective gear).
• Perform varying tasks while standing, lifting, crouching, etc. during long periods of time.
• Perform all tasks safely and in a manner, that will not create or pose a direct threat to the health and/or safety of the sanitation worker or any other person.

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
• Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers.
• Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments, under stressful conditions.
• Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
• Be willing to perform varying tasks per the supervisor’s instructions and in accordance with all safety guidelines mandated by the employer.

• Excessive ascending and/or descending of ladders and stairs using feet and legs and/or hands and arms on a regular basis. Body agility is emphasized
• Walking:
  Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances on a regular basis
• Repetitive motions:
  Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
• Standing:
  Particularly for sustained periods of time on concrete
• Stooping:
  Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist on a regular basis
• Reaching:
  Extending hands and arms in any direction
• Pushing:
  Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
• Pulling:
  Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
• Kneeling:
  Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees occasionally
• Crouching:
  Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine
• Lifting:
  Able to lift up to 55lbs on a regular basis, up to 60lbs occasionally
