Plant Operator - Mansfield, LA Sand Mine

Job Summary

Employee in this position is responsible for monitoring flow process in the Wet and/or Dry Plant, documenting temperatures, moisture levels, and making modifications as needed to meet production specifications. Uses on-board computer and automated equipment. Requires knowledge of hands‑on operations, including truck load‑out, logs for particulate monitors, pressure drop readings and dust control.

Key Accountabilities
  • Has knowledge of all equipment and all job descriptions of employees in the Wet and/or Dry Plants.
  • Inspects process area and equipment prior to beginning of shift and documents as required.
  • Knowledgeable with decant belt and gate operation, conveyors, surge bins, dryers, screens, bucket elevators, dust collectors and other dry process equipment.
  • Operates equipment based upon established procedures: crusher, screens, conveyor belts, pumps, hydrosizer, filter belts, dryers, conveyors, elevators, and dryers.
  • Maintaining inventories of feeds for the wet and dry plants.
  • Collects sand, sieves, sizes and tests for turbidity for quality control and assurance.
  • Maintains the operation of all plant facilities in accordance with operating guidelines and instructions, including shutting down operating equipment and tracking downtime events per company procedures.
  • Using Front End Loader, loads sand into feed hopper and inspects equipment.
  • Communicates with truck drivers as required.
  • May perform some maintenance and housekeeping tasks as required to include screen and filter maintenance.
  • Makes any necessary process and/or control adjustments to meet production targets or product quality specifications.
  • Works with Team Lead Operator for production planning.
  • Adheres to all Gen6 Proppants safety and environmental requirements and participates in program development and reviews.
  • Performs duties in compliance with all associated regulations (MSHA, OSHA, etc.) which include documentation and reporting for each regulation.
  • Collects operating data and records data on daily log sheets whether paper or computer files.
  • May operate other plants and equipment as required.
  • Performs special projects and job-related duties as assigned.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality at all times, including the ability to recognize situations in which confidentiality is required.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with company managers, coworkers, clients, contractors, vendors and the public.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • For Plant Operator II - 3 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge in silica sand mine, MSHA Part 49, OSHA regulation and compliance.
  • Knowledge of dry sand mine process flow including experience with all mining equipment in operations.
Other Requirements
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a criminal history background check and drug screening test and will be subject to random, for‑cause and post‑accident drug testing, in accordance with DTE’s policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in oral and written format.
  • Ability to prepare reports and logically present facts and information.
  • Ability to read and understand procedural and safety manuals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks and projects in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to work independently, with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
