Directs sugar production operations on shift, supervising a union workforce to meet or exceed production and quality targets while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

• Meet or exceed standard production rates while maintaining compliance with safety, regulatory and quality standards.
• Lead assigned teams in the continuous improvement process.
• Conduct regular shift meetings regarding safety, production, quality and other important information.
• Conduct training, monitor and evaluate employee performance, and implement recommendations to improve performance.
• Analyze production requirements to estimate worker hours and create production schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
• Compute amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and material requirements from storage area.
• Ensure quality of finished products by adhering to company policies, procedures and specifications.
• Coordinate flow of materials into and out of the production areas for distribution in accordance with the production schedule.
• Conduct safety audits and ensure that all safety requirements are met.
• Communicate with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
• Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications.
• Provide guidance to workers in adjusting, repairing, and maintaining machines and equipment that fail to meet standards.
• Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
• Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Ensure all required production, quality, and safety documentation is completed and delivered in accordance with department and company requirements.

• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices is required.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial food manufacturing/production environment supervising union employees.
• Industrial electric background, computer, PLC programming, mechanical troubleshooting, and management supervisory skills.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Electrical Sciences/Technical field is preferred.

This person will supervise approximately 80 hourly employees in a unionized setting.

• Must possess quantifiable leadership skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays and rotating shifts.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
• Must have the ability to train others.
