OverviewDirects sugar production operations on shift, supervising a union workforce to meet or exceed production and quality targets while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
DetailedRoles & Responsibilities
- Achieve results through subordinates in a unionized environment.
- Meet or exceed standard production rates while maintaining compliance with safety, regulatory and quality standards.
- Lead assigned teams in the continuous improvement process.
- Conduct regular shift meetings regarding safety, production, quality and other important information.
- Conduct training, monitor and evaluate employee performance, and implement recommendations to improve performance.
- Analyze production requirements to estimate worker hours and create production schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
- Compute amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and material requirements from storage area.
- Ensure quality of finished products by adhering to company policies, procedures and specifications.
- Coordinate flow of materials into and out of the production areas for distribution in accordance with the production schedule.
- Conduct safety audits and ensure that all safety requirements are met.
- Communicate with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications.
- Provide guidance to workers in adjusting, repairing, and maintaining machines and equipment that fail to meet standards.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Ensure all required production, quality, and safety documentation is completed and delivered in accordance with department and company requirements.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices is required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial food manufacturing/production environment supervising union employees.
- Industrial electric background, computer, PLC programming, mechanical troubleshooting, and management supervisory skills.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Electrical Sciences/Technical field is preferred.
This person will supervise approximately 80 hourly employees in a unionized setting.
Essential Capabilities- Must possess quantifiable leadership skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays and rotating shifts.
- Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
- Must have the ability to train others.
