Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women is seeking a dedicated Facility Assistant Maintenance Manager A to support the safe and efficient operation of our all-female correctional facility. This position oversees maintenance activities, coordinates repairs, and ensures compliance with institutional standards that protect staff, offenders, and visitors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage diverse projects in a secure environment while upholding safety and professionalism.

QualificationsFour years of experience in the building construction trade, building construction, building maintenance, or road or bridge construction or maintenance; OR Completion of a two-year training program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of related experience; OR twelve semester hours in a construction field or engineering plus two years of related experience.
Job Duties- Supervises and directs Maintenance Foremen, Plumbers, Electricians, HVAC Specialists, and inmate work crews, ensuring tasks are assigned appropriately and completed to institutional standards.
- Provides technical guidance, hands-on assistance, and oversight to staff and inmate workers, fostering safe and efficient work practices.
- Inspects, reviews, and approves completed maintenance and repair projects to ensure compliance with safety codes, quality standards, and facility requirements.
- Oversees maintenance and repair of facility systems during weekend on-call duty status, responding promptly to urgent needs to maintain operational continuity.
- Trains and mentors inmate workers in basic maintenance and repair skills, reinforcing safety protocols and accountability while supporting rehabilitation initiatives.
- Coordinates with other departments to schedule and prioritize maintenance projects, minimizing disruption to institutional operations.
- Maintains accurate records of work assignments, inspections, and completed projects to support reporting and compliance requirements.
Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE. Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment. An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to permanent promotion. This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled temporarily, a permanent position may become available and the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
